Mother’s Day Video – too cute!

texting mom

Hi there! It has been a while since I posted anything, so please forgive me. A friend shared a video on Facebook today and I just had to share it in the blogosphere! Those of us in our 40′s and up can probably relate to this if our moms are still living. My mother-in-law has no clue about technology what-so-ever, so she wouldn’t even understand this video – but I love her anyway! She is a good, down-to-earth, bread baking, soap watching, home-cooking, mom and “Grammy” and we all love her so much!

Take a moment to watch this video and enjoy. I am sure it will warm your heart!

Just Jewelry Announces Plumpy’nut Mission to Save Lives!

Plumpy'Nut Faith Hope Love Get Nutty with Just Jewelry

Get Nutty with Just Jewelry!

Every year, more than 15 million children die from malnutrition. That’s one child every six seconds! Just Jewelry is honored to partner with Doctors Without Borders in its mission to save children from malnutrition through the distribution of a revolutionary product called Plumpy’nut. This ready-to-eat, vitamin-enriched nutritional supplement can mean the difference between life and death for a young child.

To support the Plumpy’nut mission, Just Jewelry has designed a bracelet to raise funds.  We are affectionately calling the project Get Nutty, implying both a call to action and symbolizing the life-saving product – Plumpy’nut.  For each bracelet sold ($15 retail), Just Jewelry will donate the funds necessary to provide two Plumpy’nut meals to a malnourished child.  “We are so excited to watch God do incredible things through this effort of sharing Faith, Hope and Love around the world,” says Virginia Depp and Nicole Nelson, Co-Founders of Just Jewelry.

Just Jewelry has also designed a “Get Nutty” T-shirt to help spread the word about Just Jewelry’s mission to save children from malnutrition with Plumpy’nut.  The cost of the T-shirt is $15 and 100% of the proceeds go to Doctors Without Borders.

Just Jewelry Get Nutty T-shirt for Plumpy'nutI too am “Getting Nutty” with Just Jewelry!  I am offering the Get Nutty bracelet to you for the cost of only $8!  I will not be making any profit on this sale.  I want to do my part to help get Plumpy’nut into the mouths of as many malnutritioned children as I can!  If you would like to order a bracelet or even a T-shirt, please email your order to me at krhodes@itsjustjewelry.com.  I will then contact you with payment options and to obtain your mailing address.

$8 – $15 doesn’t seem like a lot of money . . . but the life you can help save is priceless . . .

Thank you in advance for Getting Nutty with me and Just Jewelry!

Friday Favorites hosted by kimberskorner.info

If you just found us – WELCOME! We hope you will join us and have some fun learning about each other and the things that make us smile. Every Friday, we will share something that is our favorite. It could be a favorite old or new gadget, store, food, book, place. . . the possibilities are endless!

This week’s category is “favorite purse”. Now this could be your favorite brand, style, size, etc.

My favorite purse is actually a BIG purse. I need a big purse for many reasons, but mainly because I just need a big purse! I carry catalogs for my party plan businesses with me, business cards, order forms, calendar, and many other odd things like a pair of scissors, paper clips, some push pins, a mini stapler, etc.  I refuse to carry a purse and a tote bag, so my purse is a purse/tote bag!

I have been to many a purse party and purchased some of the designer type purses but have found another, very affordable brand to be my ultimate favorite.

My favorite brand of purse is by Butler Basics. These purses are designed with a built in organizer attached to the bottom of the purse. It is little compartments that keep your items separated and easy to grab.  These purses do come in various sizes, trendy styles, and colors.  I have several that are many years old and I still use them. They are put together well and the handles can withstand the weight of the junk that I carry with me!  I am also notorious for tossing change in the bottom of my purse and have had my purse weigh almost 10 pounds one time! And I never broke a strap or anything . . . these are good purses!  Below is a picture of the first Butler Basic that I ever had . . . and I still have it and am currently using.

Butler Basics Handbag

Everything that I carry has its own place in this purse, my cell phone, my wallet, my checkbook, I can even tuck my catalogs along the outside of the organizer and still have room for more stuff! I am never searching for lost keys – I used to think my other purses ate my keys as it would take 5 minutes or longer to find the darn things!

I know of two places that you can purchase these purses – Avon and K-Mart – priced at about $39 – $13 when on sale.  I am sure if you searched online you could find many other retailers that carry Butler Basics.

So, do you have a favorite handbag or purse? Do you like them big and roomy or small and easy to carry? Is there a certain brand that you prefer?  Please share with us!

Here’s how!

Living Well Wednesday

Welcome to Living Well Wednesday hosted by the ever-lovely Natalie Collinson over at http://nataliecollinson.com- a fun, weekly blogging meme, focusing on achieving our new year goals ONE WEEK AT A TIME! Whether your goals are physical, spiritual, mental (or anything in between) then this is for you!

Here is my update and it is going to be a quickie because I am short on time but bound and determined to get this posted on Wednesday!

I am not even going to try my scale, lol! I ate a lot this week!  We went out to eat on Saturday at an Italian restaurant we have never tried. It was awesome! I did have a side salad and  penne pasta with marinara and grilled chicken, but had to wash it down with the best un-Southern sweet tea I have ever had!  Sunday the hubby begged me to bake him a cake. So I made him his favorite, devil’s food with coconut pecan icing.  And YES, I had some too! Monday I made a huge pan of lasagna with salads and followed that up with a chocolate chip cookie cake (store bought) for the hubby that said “KISS ME” in hot Diva pink icing, lol!  Even though he has been so wonderful these past few months taking care of me, he hasn’t kissed me because he doesn’t want to get sick.  Well, guess what? I got a kiss!  And, guess what? He has a head cold now! So . . . there you have it.

I am still working on the decluttering. I don’t see a light at the end of this tunnel! Although, I am seeing more boxes of yard sale items piling up in the spare bedroom!

The finances are coming along one baby step at a time.  I will be out of this mess in 5 years or I am selling my house, paying everything off and starting over! Kimber has spoken!

Well, my time is up! I hope everyone has had a wonderful week in spite of Valentine’s Day.  Can’t wait to read or watch how everyone is doing!

Until next week!

Google Docs & Forms

Google Docs Home Page Screen Shot

I am a huge fan of anything Google.  I use many of the Google Apps, such as the calendar, voice and video chat, etc.  And, I “google” everything that I want to know, lol!  The Google Apps that I use are the free apps; however, there are enhanced apps that businesses can use for a fee and schools can use free of charge.  I may do blog posts on all of the apps that I like in Google, but I want to highlight Google Docs and especially Google Forms today.

Google Docs makes it so easy to have access to your documents no matter where you are and no matter what computer you are using.  I really like it because if I created something at home and then wanted to pull it up at work, I am able to do so easily.  No need to carry a flash drive around – just log into my account and there it is.  You can save and/or create many types of files such as documents, spreadsheets, presentations and drawings – even 3D drawings.  Google Docs will even let you view many types of documents created with various programs, even if you do not have that particular program installed on your computer.  Don’t have MS Word? No problem, Google Docs lets you view it within your web browser.  You can save files you received via email in Google Docs. You can upload, download and share online.  It is very versatile and I would be lost without it.

Now, on to Google Forms . . .

I use Google Forms all the time with my party plan business.  Google Forms is very user friendly and very easy to create.  You can create surveys, forms to collect contact information, polls, etc.  You can apply different themes to jazz up the form a bit and show your personal style and taste.  You can embed the form in your website or blog.  You can email the form and the recipients can complete it right in the email and then submit it back to you.Google Forms screen shot

Information is collected in a spreadsheet and saved in your  Google Docs account.  You can then download the spreadsheet and use it however you wish.  For example, you can use it as a data source when doing a mail merge or you can use it to import into your email marketing program.

Here is a video that shows you how to use Google Forms and many of the other features available within Google Docs to help you use forms:

I am only sharing my opinion of this particular product because I am pleased with it and it has helped me greatly. Living Well Wednesday – Feb 9, 2011

Living Well Wednesday

I must apologize for being late with my Living Well Wednesday post.  I guess when you spend the better part of a month sick, that eventually you get well and then have to play catch-up with everything that you let go while you were down for the count.  That is basically what I have been doing, playing catch-up but I am not making any headway!

To recap my week of trying to live well, I have the following to report:

  • Finances: a bit messed up because I ran out of money after paying for all of my drugs to get well. Note to self, taking care of oneself can actually save you money!
  • Deluttering of my house:  have another box filled and ready for my yard sale!
  • Weight loss:I have not gained back the 8 pounds that I lost.  I did gain a new good habit while I was sick.  Because of the sore throat and the medications I was on, I craved water and ice.  Now I have a glass of ice water by me constantly and refill it at least 10 times a day.  I used to never drink water – coffee or pop or iced tea was all I would drink.

So, I guess I am happy to report that overall I had a successful week.

Next week I hope to start doing some light exercise. I have some Leslie Sansone Walk at Home videos that I may start out with first.  I am still feeling a bit shaky after being sick so I think I need to take it slow and add things as I feel stronger.

By the way – I watched my grandson on Monday, who was sick again, and now I have a runny nose, watery eyes, sore throat and cough.  Guess that means the little germ factory got me again. I am hoping my system is still full of the antibiotics from last month and that they kick this thing before it takes a good hold of me!

Hopefully, I will see you next week in a vlog.  Have a great week!

Friday’s Favorites – 2-11-2011

Friday Favorites hosted by kimberskorner.info

Well, better late than never – right?  I  have been busy, busy, busy!  I need to take a break so that I can regroup!

Our topic today is your Favorite Way to Spend Valentine’s Day.  Since the big day of Love falls on a Monday, I am sure that many happy couples will be doing their celebrating on the weekend. I know that me and my hubby will probably do something Saturday evening after the grand-baby goes home for the day.

My absolute favorite way to spend time with my hubby on Valentine’s Day or any day is dinner and a movie.  I love snuggling up to him in the theatre – front row seat with the foot rest bar in front!  Sharing a popcorn with EXTRA BUTTA and a large drink – we are thrifty, those treats at a movie theater cost an arm and a leg and your first born!  (Shh, don’t tell anyone this . . . when my kids were little, I would smuggle in microwave popcorn, bottles of pop and candy so my kids could eat and watch the movie.  I even saved popcorn boxes/bags from the theater so that they wouldn’t know I did that!) Now that it is just me and hubby, we splurge and by one big popcorn and one big drink.  The kids would be so jealous if they knew, lol!

After the movie, we go someplace a little more upscale than Mickey D’s, maybe Longhorn Steak House or even dinner by the cozy fire at Cracker Barrel.  We have to eat after the movie or we will fall asleep, lol!  No lie!  Once we took the kids to see Insomnia with Robin Williams and we fell asleep and embarrassed the kids with our snoring!  It was a boring movie and sleep came easily from watching Insomnia, lol!

I am not sure what movie we will see, maybe True Grit which is still playing or one of the new movies, Just Go With It or Gnomeo and Juliet (which I would love to see).  Hubby usually picks so it will end up being True Grit, which is okay with me.

So what is your favorite thing to do on Valentine’s Day?? Oh, please keep it G=rated, lol!  We don’t need to know everything!!

Animoto – not just another slide show

banner-180x150

If you don’t know it yet, I am a geek, nerd, computer junkie – you name it, if it involves IT (Information Technology) I want it.  I have to touch it, see it, and play with it as soon as I can get my grubby little fingers on it.  And chances are, once I have gotten to mess around with it, it will become my new favorite thing.

Last year, I discovered Animoto. I played with it and loved it, but never did anything more with it. I was busy working a full-time job then and really didn’t have the time.  Well, a few weeks ago, I remembered it and decided to go and purchase the $30 a year option so that I could use it to market the preview of Just Jewelry’s new spring/summer collection.  It was a huge hit with not only my fellow consultants, but with the Just Jewelry Corporate office as well!  You can view the video by clicking HERE.

The videos are very unique – they are NOT just a slide show.  Animoto integrates animated graphics into the video making it very pleasing and interesting visually.  There is also music available by independent artists in several different genres to choose from - this makes your video pleasing to the ear.

It is very easy to create a video using Animoto:

  1. Upload your photos. You can click and drag them to arrange them or you can let Animoto shuffle them randomly for you.
  2. Upload snippets of video, too.
  3. Add text wherever you want. Once again, you can click and drag the text to wherever you deem appropriate in your video.
  4. Select your music from a plethora of artists and genres. You can also choose where the music starts if you don’t want it to start at the beginning of the song.
  5. Create your video!
  6. Download it and/or share it on the Internet. (paid subscription)

There are three plans available to choose from:

  • Lite: Let’s you try for free and create 30-second videos.
  • Plus: $5/month or $30/year let’s you create unlimited, full-length videos at 240p, with the option to purchase 480p ($3) and 720p HD videos ($6). You can also download an MP4 of your video and share it anyway you want – email, Facebook, YouTube, embed on your own website, and more.
  • Pro: $$39/month or $249/year. This is for the serious video enthusiast, photographer, real estate agent or anyone wanting to market a business. It is fully featured and you can view all of those features by clicking HERE.

Animoto also has a referral program.  If you get paid referrals, you can get 3 months free and the person you are referring can get $5 off of their paid subscription!  There is also an affiliate program and you can get paid when someone signs up for a paid account with Animoto.

If you want to do more with your photographs, create marketing videos for your business or if you are in real estate and want to create stunning videos to showcase your listings, then I would  highly recommend Animoto!

Disclaimer: I am an affiliate with Animoto and any link that you do click on will either track your purchase for payment or referral. So, I may be compensated by either receiving an affiliate payment or free months of service from Animoto when you sign up for a paid account with Animoto.  I am not an employee of Animoto, just an enthusiastic, paid subscriber of the Animoto service and an affiliate/referrer.

Friday Favorites hosted by kimberskorner.info

Hello everyone and welcome to Friday Favorites!  This is the place to learn about something that may be new to you and how it might make your life easier or happier!

This week’s category is “Favorite Exercise Equipment“.

Since many of us are hopefully still excited about our New Year resolutions, I thought this would be a good topic to discuss.  Health and weight loss is usually among the top resolutions; however, I think it is the most often broken resolution.  I know that I am proof of that.

Every New Year, the store circulars are full of great exercise equipment and workout clothes to help you keep those resolutions.  And, every year, I run out and buy that piece of equipment that is going to get me fit!  Well, guess what? I have a room full of equipment that has made a great place to hang laundry on.  Yep, that is right. I have a treadmill right now that is lined with clothes hanging around the handrails on clothes hangers!  I have a stationary bike that is just that STATIONARY. It is collecting dust.  I also have DVDs, stabilizing balls, hand weights, resistance bands and more.

Out of all of this stuff that I have, my most favorite equipment for exercising is my old ratty walking shoes!  Out of all the exercise that a person can do, I LOVE to walk!  I love being outdoors and the smell in the air, the warmth of the sun on my shoulders and the breeze in my hair.  Somedays I walk with an mp3 player, but many days it is just me and the sounds of the world and my thoughts.

So, what is your favorite exercise equipment and why?  Go write your post or record your vlog and then come back here and link your post in the linky below!
